WHEN THE FIGHT COMES TO AN END : TRACK RECORD OF A UNIQUE NETWORKING EVENT IN MEXICO

On April 2nd and April 3rd  took place one of the biggest Networking Event of Mexico. Novahub was there and get to know promising projects and start-ups.

During the two days, the event saw around 4,000 visitors, 42 exhibitors and more than 60 intervenant from Corporates such as IBM or Fedex. The point of such a big event is to allow Start-ups in search for a Venture Capital to present their project to decision makers from big Companies from around the world. It offers them a chance to connect, network and interact with the professionals from their sector.

During the event, we were able to learn more about the innovations coming to the market, but also about how to use the new technologies to perfect their sales channel and help them having a better conversion rate when it comes to sale their ideas or project.

Most Start-Ups we got a chance to talk to already had reached a certain stage of development in their project, some of them already received public or privates funds or even started selling their product or their own website or others platforms.

As Novahub, we got an opportunity to help organize an event inside the event, the Entrepreneur Fight Club. A debates competition between Start-Ups from the same sector of activity, FinTech, AdTech, AgroTech, GreenTech, BigData…etc with a premium prize of $140,000MX.

The #Fighterz would come up on stage to present their product, explain their innovation and their Business Model. The jury, composed of 4 entrepreneurs would then ask questions or precisions about their project. They will then select a winner for each category, which would debate against a Decision Maker from a Corporates. We had a chance to see debates with Rene Ojeda, GM Mobike México, Ignacio Aguirre Franco, responsable del marketing LATAM de Adobe Acrobate o Felipe Posada, LATAM Supply Chain Leader for IBM. Each of those debates aiming to have a reflexion over a technology, an aspect of the market or a business in general. It gave a real chance to each participant to explain why their product is unique and offers a real innovation, at first for their own sector but also what they can bring to the industry in general.

It was also a great opportunity to make contact but most and foremost to show their knowledge about their technology and sector. When it comes to commercialization, having the vision of a Corporates to match with helped them  precizing or redifining their plans or their vision of sales.

The entire experience was really enriching for every actor of the sector. The Venture Capital seekers had a chance to convince potential investors to come, the Corporates could find a possible match with a promising Start-Ups, the kind that can turn them into an Unicorn thanks to it scalable business and the visitors had a chance to listen to different person discussing about business/ technologies topics to have a more precize idea of how the market is evolving.
